Black River Falls Girls Tennis
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now 4 weeks into the season with 5 matches under our belt, the Black River Falls tennis team is progressing quickly. It's always difficult to jump right into the first couple matches.

Returning as head coach is Karen Amo, but we have two new assistant coaches, Victoria Rake and Chelsea Hurlburt. We are very glad to have them helping us out at practices and offering pointers and straregies at matches.

We have many returning players, including 6 seniors. The tennis team is also very happy that two foreign exhange students, (Julia Klassen - Sweden, Nina Jansing - Germany) have decided to come out and give tennis a whirl. Neither had ever played before, but both have made huge progresses and have already played on varsity.

In high school tennis, there are 4 singles players and 3 doubles teams that make up a varsity team. This year, our line up consists of Melinda Laudon (1 singles), Moriah Deno (2 singles), Nina Jansing and Julia Klassen (both swith from 3-4 singles). Sierra Fox/Sierra Johnson (1 doubles), Thea Holty/Chelsea Matalas (2 doubles), Savannah Markee/Lindsey Fox (3 doubles), with Alyssa Anderson and Caitil Nelson on J.V.

The Conference Tournament is approaching quickly! It will be held on Saturday, September 19th, here in Black River Falls, because of our fantastic new tennis courts. We will be taking on the four other teams in our conference (Viroqua, Mauston, Onalaska Luther, and West Salem) and hope to come away with All-Conference honors!

Our next match will be Tuesday, September 15th at Onalaska Luther at 4:30. We also have a make up match for Thursday, September 17th at Mauston, also at 4:30
